PURPOSE:To recover the breakage of lubricant layer of a magnetic recording disk set into a magnetic disk device by bringing a pad containing a fluorine compound into contact with the recording disk, and rubbing the pad on the disk. CONSTITUTION:An arm 2 gives the reciprocating motion to a magnetic head 5 and an impregnating pad 4 on a disk 1 in its radius direction. This arm 2 is driven by a step motor, voice coil motor, etc. Both the head 5 and the pad 4 are pressed onto the disk 1 by a spring 3. A fluorine compound such as chlorotelomer, etc. which excels in a lubricant function is impregnated into the pad 4 which is made of porous material such as felt. With such a magnetic disk device, a new lubricant film is always formed on the disk 1 by giving proper reciprocating motions to the pad 4 by the arm 2. If the head 5 damages the lubricant film, this breakage of the film is recovered early. In such a way, the safe float-up and takeoff of the head 5 are ensured. |
