An automatically operating machine for testing the pitch of toothed gears is specified, in which with a single revolution of the toothed gear testing of the pitch is performed both for the right-hand and for the left-hand sides of the gear, it being prevented that the two probes are switched over or deflected from one side to the other against fixed stops, so that defective rebound effects and oscillations cannot occur for the respective measurement position.
