PURPOSE:To extremely improve the brightness and contrast ratio of a displayed picture by filling an air gap between the cathode ray tube and a lens with a medium having a refractive index generally equal to the refractive index in a medium composing of the surface glass of the cathode ray tube and the lens. CONSTITUTION:The air gap between the surface glass 35 of the cathode ray tube and the lens is filled with the medium having a refractive index near to the refractive index in the medium composing the glass and the lens. A colorless, transparent, liquid silicone resin having a large light transmission factor and a refractive index near to the refractive index in glass or acrylic resin is suited for the medium. A seal material 37 is used in order to prevent leakage of the silicone resin to the outside. And thereby the light reflection due to the boundary surfaces between the surface glass of the cathode ray tube and the air, and between the surface of the lens and the air can be relieved. |
