PURPOSE:To produce the titled composition having high refractive index, low dispersion and excellent transparency, impact resistance, dyeability, etc., by polymerizing specific amounts of tribromophenyl methacrylate, styrene, polyethylene glycol di(meth)acrylate, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition having an Abbe number of >=33 and a refractive index of >=1.58 is produced by polymerizing (A) 40-70(wt)% tribromophenyl methacrylate, (B) 10-40% styrene, (C) 5-30% one or more compounds of formula (R is H or methyl; n is 1-23) (e.g. polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate) and (D) 0-10% other unsaturated vinyl compound copolymerizable with the components A, B and C, in the presence of a polymerization initiator (e.g. lauroyl peroxide). |
