PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a good still picture characteristic and decreases head wear by incorporating graphite and carbon black having an average primary particle size of a specific value or below in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer incorporated with graphite, more particularly flake graphite having 0.01-3mu average primary particle size at 0.1-10pts.wt. in 100pts.wt. magnetic material and carbon black having an average primary particle size in <=30mum, more preferably 10-30mu range at 0.1-10pts.wt. in 100pts.wt. magnetic material is formed on a non-magnetic base to obtain a magnetic recording medium. A suitable amt. of a lubricant, polishing agent, etc. are further incorporated into the magnetic layer. A video tape or the like having good dispersibility of the magnetic material, graphite, carbon black, etc. into the binder, good wear resistance and excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic is thus obtd. |
