PURPOSE:To prepare a pure and dense titled polycrystalline material having few defects, by the hot isostatic press (HIP) of polycrystalline zinc selenide sealed in a closed vessel having a carbon coating film applied to the inner surface. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of a vessel made of pyrex glass or an alumina silicate glass of low B2O3 content, is coated with a carbon coating layer 3 of about 1-10mu in thickness. Polycrystalline ZnSe 2 is sealed in the capsule 1 thus obtained, and subjected to the HIP process at about 1,000 deg.C and about 1,000atm for about 1hr to obtain polycrystalline zinc selenide. The carbon coating layer 3 is pref. formed by introducing an organic solvent (e.g. acetone, ethyl alcohol, etc.) into the capsule vessel, and thermally decomposing the solvent, thereby depositing the formed carbon to the inner wall of the vessel. |
