PURPOSE:To reduce the number of connected cables by applying Manchester coding to a data signal and also superimposing a control signal on the data signal. CONSTITUTION:A data terminal DTE and a line terminator DCE are provided respectively with converters CONV 1, 2 having an encoder and a decoder in terms of the Manchester code, and data exchange is conducted via the converters, in a data exchange system where the line terminator DCE and the data terminal device DTE of a data exchange network are connected by respective data line and control signal line. Thus, a data line T and a control signal line R are unified into one line T' and a data line C from the data exchange network and an indication line I ' are unified into a line R' by applying the Manchester coding to the data signal by means of the converters and transmitting the signal while being superimposed with the control signal. |
