PURPOSE:To prevent a medium from being damaged even when magnetic head are loaded and unloaded repeatedly by providing the cam contacting parts of head holders fitted to the heads to a cam coupled with a rotating mechanism in contact. CONSTITUTION:The head holders 3 and 3' are positioned abutting on a carriage 5 at parts 10 and 10'. When the head is unloaded, i.e. in a state (b), a head loading cam 2 rotates and the head holders 3 and 3' abuts on the cam 2 at the parts 10 and 10' to elevate the heads 4 and 4' in unloading directions slightly over medium surfaces. When a door is closed, i.e. in a state (a), the head loading cam 2 further rotates and the magnetic heads 4 and 4' float over the medium surfaces sufficiently, so that the medium does not abut on either magnetic head at time of inserting and extracting. A stepping motor 1 is driven to load and unload the magnetic heads 4 and 4', and then the heads move by a small extent in loading and unloading and contact the medium softly, so that the medium is never damaged. |
