The invention relates to a symmetric profiled rig, which can be rotated and tilted at the foot point, for sailboards and other sailing vessels. In this rig, a skeleton of longitudinal spars and cross-frames, together with an oval-dish-shaped sail area, forms a dimensionally stable, self-supporting unit absorbing external loads. The tensile forces occurring in the sail area, together with the compressive forces in the spars, take over the function of the conventional, flexurally rigid mast, which is thus dispensed with. The rigid sail profile without a turbulence-forming mast considerably improves the aerodynamic effectiveness of the rig. In addition, handling is facilitated during starting, and the transport is simplified by short bar parts.
