The invention relates to a sheet-metal core which is composed of two core parts (1, 6) and is formed from layers of sheet-metal blanks of equal size, forms two yokes, three limbs (3, 2, 4) and two windows on which both outer limb-yoke regions are firmly held together (7), has a separating joint (8) between the free end of the centre limb (2) and the other core part, and fixes the centre limb (2), which is formed by the one core part, with respect to the other core part. In this case, it is desirable that the free end of the centre limb be fixed with respect to the other core part just by means of the sheet-metal blanks which are of equal size. This is achieved in that at least one of the sheet-metal blanks (9) which are of equal size is displaced with respect to the others in the direction of the centre limb (2) and forms an overlap at the junction of the centre limb (2) with the other sheet-metal part (1). Humming of the sheet-metal core and of the transformer produced from it is considerably reduced. <IMAGE>
