BUTTON TYPE ALKALINE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To improve the internal resistance and short-circuit current of a button type battery and reduce the irregularity of them, by assembling the battery after at least the positive electrode facing side of a separator for separating a positive and a negative electrode depolarizing mixes from each other is wetted with an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An impregnated material 8 is interposed between a negative electrode depolarizing mix 3 and a separator 7. A positive electrode depolarizing mix 5 is provided on separator 7 opposite the negative electrode depolarizing mix 3. Before a battery is assembled, at least the positive electrode depolarizing mix contact side of the separator 7 is wetted and swollen with an electrolyte so as to be brought into good tight contact with the positive electrode depolarizing mix 5 to avoid holding air therebetween. Thus, the internal resistance and short-circuit current of the battery are improved and their irregularity is reduced. Besides, the reliability of the battery is enhanced because a crack which would be made in manufacturing the separator by punching is avoided.
