PURPOSE:To enable fixing without scorching or smoking even if a thin copying paper is conveyed into a fixing device by rotating a fan to rapidly drop the atmospheric temp. when the thin paper is detected. CONSTITUTION:A detection signal from a paper thickness detector 6 near a register roller 3 is sent from a CPU1 to a CPU2. The CPU2 sets the range of the surface temp. of a heater 4 to a low value and rotates a fan at high speed when it finds the paper to be thin from the information. On the other hand, in the case of a thick paper, it sets said temp. to a higher value, and stops the fan. A fixing device 1 comprises a reflecting plate 13, the heater 10, a heater surface temp. detector 11, and an atmospheric temp. detector 12. Another paper thickness detector 7 is installed near the device 1 and its detection signal is fetched through an I/O 2 to CPU2. |
