PRODUCTION OF DIFFERENTIAL THICKNESS PLATE

PURPOSE:To produce a differential thickness plate of which the one surface is flat and the other surface is stepped by hot rolling a steel slab to form a blank material for the differential thickness plate having steps on both surfaces and pressing the stepped part on the one side with an arc press jig having a specific curvature. CONSTITUTION:A blank material such as a steel slab is heated and is then rolled with upper and lower work rolls 3 having radio R to manufacture a blank material 4 for a differential thickness plate having steps on both surfaces. The material 4 is then pressed with a press jig 5 having the arc press surface (OQQ') of which the coordinate at the optional point Q on the curved surface thereof is expressed by the expression (1) in order to flatten the one surface of the material 4 and to produce the differential thickness plate. The surface facing the jig 5 needs be held by a flat die or others in this case. The differential thickness plate 1 having excellent flatness of the flat surface is surely obtd.
