PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a battery by increasing the close contact between a gasket and the sleeve of a sealing lid by providing a section of the gasket touching the said sleeve with an annular projection extending outward. CONSTITUTION:A gasket 8' consists of a raised cylindrical section 9' touching the inner surface of the raised section of a case and touching the outer surface of the sleeve of a sealing lid 4, a flat section 10' touching the lower end of the above sleeve and an inner cylindrical section 14 touching the inner surface of the above sleeve. The inner cylindrical section 14 is provided with an annular projection 14 extending outward. Therefore the outer diameter (phi1) of the inner cylindrical section 14 is smaller than the maximum outer diameter (phi2) of the annular projection 15. Owing to such a shape of the gasket 8', when the sleeve of the sealing lid 4 is attached to the gasket 8', the inner cylindrical section 14 especially its annular projection 15 intensely presses the sleeve thereby inhibiting the penetration of electrolyte into the gasket 8. As a result, the liquid leakage resistance of the battery is greatly improved. |
