PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a battery by providing a section of a gasket touching the inner surface of the sleeve of a sealing lid with an annular projection extending outward and interposing a sealing agent between the gasket and the sealing lid. CONSTITUTION:A gasket 8' consists of a raised cylindrical section 9' touching the inner surface of the raised section of a case and touching the outer surface of the sleeve of a sealing lid 4, a flat section 10' touching the lower end of the above sleeve and an inner cylindrical section 14 touching the inner surface of the above sleeve. The inner cylindrical section 14 is provided with an annular projection 15 extending outward. A sealing agent 16 consists of either an adhesive such as polyamide or a synthetic rubber or a bitumen such as a liquid packing or asphalt. Typically this kind of sealing agent is applied by preparing it in solution, applying the solution to the area to be sealed. The area is then dried to remove the solvent. |
