PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium improved in deterioration on reproduction, by providing on a base a recording layer comprising a cyanine dye with or without a resin and further comprising a quencher represented by a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:A cyanine dye, with or without a resin, and a compound of the formula, wherein M is a transition metal atom, A is S, C<R<1>R2or C=Q, wherein each of R1 and R2 is CN, CO, R3, COOR4, CONR5R6 or SO2R7, wherein each of R3-R7 is a hydrogen atom, a subst. or unsubst. alkyl group or aryl group, Q is a group of atoms required for forming a 5-membered or 6-membered ring, Cat is a cation, and n is 1-2, are dissoved in a predetermined solvent to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as one of various resins and a glass, and is dried to provide the recording layer, thereby obtaining an optical recording medium. |
