DRIVE CIRCUIT FOR MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a drive circuit for multi-channel magnetic head and to turn suitably the drive circuit into an IC, by flowing the drive currents of plural drive circuits in series to each other. CONSTITUTION:A constant current (i) of a constant current source 12 flows to a magnetic head 47 from the 1st switch circuit 43 through the 4th switch circuit 46 when a switch circuit group is actuated. Thus the signal corresponding to the ''high'' level of an input signal is recorded on a tape. While the circuits 43 and 46 are switched off and the 2nd and 3rd switch circuits 44 and 45 conduct when the input signal is set at a ''low'' level. As a result, the current (i) flowing to the head 47 flows toward the 2nd switch circuit 42 from the 3rd switch circuit 45. The drive circuits 5 and 6 which perform the same working as a drive circuit 4 are put on each other to drive magnetic heads 57 and 67. Thus the current (i) equivalent to a single magnetic head suffices.
