PURPOSE:To reclaim a tool while in operation by extemporaneously replacing a general-purpose tool requiring reclamation in a tool storage magazine with a general-purpose tool from a central tool storage room by the joint action of a tool replacing unit and a tool fitting/removing unit peculiar to a machine tool. CONSTITUTION:When machining is completed, a spider arm 40 extracts a used tool fitted to a main shaft 30 and rotates 90 deg., then it fits the next tool TC2 held by a tool holder 41 to the main shaft 30. Next, if the replaced tool is a new general-purpose tool and a replacement command with a life replacement tool is issued, the spider arm 40 advances and rotates 180 deg. and fits this tool to a waiting tool carrier 39, and the carrier 39 is moved by a guide body 42 to hold this tool in waiting near twin arms 38. On the other hand, a tool storage magazine is rotated by a drive unit 36, a life-consumed tool is replaced with a new tool at a preset position, and the life-consumed tool is returned to a central tool storage room. Accordingly, the life-consumed tool can be replaced while in operation. |
