Line protection switch with arcing aid

The protection switch comprises two arcing rails leading to an arc-chamber fitted out with quenching plates. One of the arcing rails carries the fixed switching contact and the second joins up tight against the moving switch-contact in the latter's open position, whereby one of the leads to the switching contacts has a section serving as arcing aid that extends directly out of the arcing chamber to carry current in the same direction as in the arc during run-in to the quenching chamber. The line-section (42) extending to the quenching plates (34) comprises part of the loop (38-46) leading to the movable switch-contact (18). The loop itself comprises the path of movement of the movable switch-contact (18).
