PURPOSE:To prevent the transmission of unnecessary packets and the stop of transmission for a time longer than a system needs, by acquiring the transmission completion timing of a message outputted to a general terminal such as a teletypewriter or the like in the packet mode terminal side of a computer system or the like to obtain a required time security. CONSTITUTION:Characters of the message to be transmitted from a packet mode terminal PT are checked; and if a character or character string for which padding (time security) should be provided, for example, a device control sequence or a format control character is detected, this message is transmitted as a data DT packet through a packet switching network PSN, and a read pad message is transmitted as a transmitting/receiving command to PAD immediately after transmission of this packet, and the next message is transmitted as a DT packet a certain time, namely, an individual time security interval (T in a figure), which is required for the character or character string and is set by a timer, after reception of the response of this read pad message. |
