PURPOSE:To print with high quality while performing appropriate micro-spacing, by apportioning a surplus space to word spaces on the basis of a random number generated. CONSTITUTION:A register 10 stores the length of a predetermined line at the time of printing the line. The length of the line and the sum total of the lengths of all characters contained in the line stored in an accumulator 4 are supplied to a subtractor 11, and the amount of the surplus space is calculated. A random number generator 13 generates a random number (positive integer) in such a range as not to exceed the number of word spaces, the random number thus generated is supplied to a subtractor 14, and is subtracted from the number of the word spaces. When character codes 20 taken out from a line buffer 1 through a gate 16 are printed, the surplus space is uniformly apportioned to all of the space parts in accordance with the random number, so that space parts become uniform. |
