PURPOSE:To permit to reduce an initial injection rate sufficiently by a method wherein an auxiliary fuel reservoir is formed through an auxiliary fuel path when the amount of needle lift becomes larger than a predetermined amount to shift a lift speed automatically into a high injection rate. CONSTITUTION:When pressurized fuel flows into the fuel reservoir 13 through a path 17, the needle 12 bigins to lift against a spring 3. In this case, the fuel flows into the auxiliary fuel reservoir 16 also, however, the fuel flows thereinto under being choked by an engaging clearance C until the amount of lift arrives at a predetermined amount DELTAX0 and the pressure of the reservoir 16 is low, therefore, the needle is lifted slowly in the initial period of valve opening and a throttle injection of low injection rate may be obtained. When the amount of lift has arrived at the predetermined amount DELTAX0, a stepped section 15 opens a path 18, the pressure in the path 17 is supplied to the reservoir 18 to increase the pressure suddenly, the needle 12 is lifted largely to open a nozzle 14 largely and the main injection of a high injection rate is effected. According to this method, the initial injection rate may be reduced sufficiently, noise may be reduced and output may be increased without elongating the whole of the injection period. |
