An apparatus for the treatment of fabric webs, having a plurality of cylinders (4) which consist of a closed floatable hollow body and which are arranged so as to be freely movable in the vertical direction, but guided in the horizontal plane in a fluid-containing open trough parallel to one another and mutually adjacent, but without contact. The fabric web is alternately guided along above and below the successive cylinders (4) and can be conveyed back continuously in an endless manner by means of a conveying device (80) from the cylinder (4) which is the last in the running direction to the cylinder (4) which is the first in the running direction. The apparatus allows an especially effective low-stress fluid treatment. <IMAGE>
