The spring mattress is intended to be covered by a mattress and comprises a fixed part and, on the side of the head, a raisable movable part. Its movable part (6-7) is joined to its fixed part (1-3) by two sets of small rods which are each arranged on a side of the spring mattress, each of these two sets consisting of two small rods (10 and 13) forming an articulated quadrilateral with the fixed and movable parts so that the movement of raising the movable part is accompanied by a moving back of its lower end which prevents the mattress (9) sliding on the fixed and movable parts of the spring mattress. <IMAGE>
