PURPOSE:To prevent fuel from flowing back to a fuel pressure chamber of a plunger pump by way of a main overflow port during operation of a fuel cut valve as well as to miniaturize an automatic type valve, by installing a check valve between the fuel overflow port and a fuel receiver. CONSTITUTION:At the time of operation of a fuel cut valve 60, a plunger 12 performs rotational motion and reciprocating motion simultaneously like at the time of nonoperation of the valve 60. However, at the time of a suction stroke of a plunger pump 100, since a fuel intake passage 50 is cut off by the fuel cut valve 60, no fuel feed to a fuel pressure chamber 110 through this passage 50 takes place. And, a check valve 70 is installed at the downstream side of a fuel overflow port 110a, and a fuel passage between a fuel receiver 20 and the port 110a is intercepted by this check valve 70. Therefore, even at the time of the suction stroke of the plunger pump 100, there is no inrush of fuel into the fuel pressure chamber 110 through the fuel main overflow port 110a, thus inadvertent fuel injection is preventable from occurring.
