PURPOSE:To obtain the titled amorphous alloy with favorable magnetic characteristics and superior iron loss characteristics by rapidly cooling a molten alloy having a specified composition consisting of Fe, Si, B, C and Ca and by carrying out heat treatment at a proper temp. in a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:This amorphous alloy with small iron loss high squareness has a composition represented by a formula FeaSibBcCdCae (where a=74-81atom%, preferably 76-80%, b=6-15%, preferably 8-13%, c=6-15%, preferably 6- 9.9%, d=0-3.5%, preferably 0-2.0%, e=0.001-1.0%, preferably 0.001-0.5%, a+b+c+d+e=100%, and b <= c+d < 10%). A molten alloy having said composition is rapidly cooled by contact with a rotating roll, and the resulting thin amorphous alloy strip is heat treated at 320-440 deg.C in a magnetic field whose strength exceeds the coercive force to improve the magnetic properties.
