With the device according to the invention, shoe soles made of mouldable plastic can be moulded onto shafts. Elastomers, such as in particular polyurethane and thermoplastics such as for example polyvinyl chloride, can be used as plastics. When elastomers are used, a venting gap (i) between zero and a few mu m, depending on the viscosity of the elastomer introduced into the mould, can be set in the mould for moulding a shoe sole onto a shaft. For setting the venting gap (i), the lifting device (6, 7, 11) for vertical opening and closing of the mould parts (4, 15) is combined with a gap-setting device.
