The invention relates to a method for fixing a dowel in a structure, the hollow shank of which is inserted with a first portion into a drill-hole and is secured there by a curable filling compound, and to the second portion, projecting out of the drill-hole, of which are fixed parts, in particular wall-covering parts, which are to be held. An annular part for the outer closure of the drill-hole is attached externally to the shank. Before insertion of the dowel, filling compound is introduced into the drill-hole. When driving the dowel into the drill-hole as far as the specified seat, pressure is exerted on the filling compound by the annular part, the collar and/or the dowel-shank volume, causing the excess filling compound to pass outwards through the shank interior.
