The invention relates to an electrical ignition device for main burners and pilot burners, especially for coal dust pilot burners, an electrical resistance heating device being arranged in or on the burner, the electrical ignition device being intended to be designed as a resistance heating device in such a way that the latter acts as a point of ignition for a partial stream of the coal dust/air mixture. This is achieved in that the electrical resistance heating device is arranged as a segmented ignition surface and as part of the burner at points which ensure initial ignition. <IMAGE>
