PURPOSE:A heat-sensitive recording material having improved stability of image, enabling reading by an optically reading device, semiconductor laser beam, etc., containing a specific phthalide compound as leuco dye and a developer in a heat-sensitive coloring layer. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-sensitive recording material wherein a heat-sensitive coloring layer containing leuco dye and a developer (e.g., bisphenol A, etc.) is set on a substrate and a resin-protecting layer (e.g., urea-formalin resin, etc.) is laid on the layer, one or more compounds {e.g., 3-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-3- [bis-1,1-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)-ethyleno-2]phthalide, etc.)} shown by the formula I [R<1> is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; R<2> is H, halogen, alkyl(amino): R3 is H, or alkyl; R<4> and R<5> are H, alkyl, or alkoxy; R<6>-R<9> are (cyclo)alkyl; m is 1-4], or formula II [R<1>-R<4>, and R<12>-R<15> are (cyclo)alkyl; R<10> and R<11> are R<5>; R<7> and R<8> are H, or alkyl; R<9> is H, halogen, alkyl, etc.] are used as the leuco dye. |
