The cooling system has a ventilatin space (10) between every two adjacent switching cells (1,2). Te ventilation space is connected to external air and via inlet holes (11) in the sides of the casing walls (44) to at least one bulkhead space (5-8) in the encased switching cell (1-3). If a ventilating fan lies in the lower region of the ventialation space this space is closed by guide webs between the walls of the walls of the casing to the top, front and rear either partly or wholly.
