PURPOSE:To improve the data compressing efficiency by handling a succeeding picture data as an identical signal when a data of a prescribed level is detected in picture data rearranged in the order of a prescribed threshold value. CONSTITUTION:A binary-coded picture data obtained through the processing of the dither method or the like are rearranged in the order of prescribed threshold values D, C, B and A to the order of arrangement of threshold values A, B, C, D of a matrix such as a dither matrix, and when a signal O of a prescribed level exists in the picture data by the order of threshold values D, C, B, A, a succeeding data is regarded as the identical signal and the data is compressed. When a signal of a prescribed value O exists in the picture data as the result of compression, a data succeeding to the data is regarded as the identical signal and the data is decoded. |
