A vehicle dynamometer has a tachometer between a roller (1) and a dynamo (3). It determines the control variable which has to be absorbed by the dynamo after a time DELTA T. The control is carried out in such a way that a deviation epsilon (t) between the prescribed value and the desired value vanishes. This leads to better matching and accuracy of the system. <IMAGE>
