PURPOSE:To obtain a rotary drive actuator for producing an accurate low speed rotary output in a small size and weight by rotatably driving three types of piezoelectric elements while clamping the shaft under the control of the displacements of the elements. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric elements 3a, 3c are secured at the outer peripheries to an actuator body 4, disposed at the inner peripheral surfaces at an interval to a shaft 5 on the same shaft. When a voltage is applied, the inner diameter is reduced, displaced to clamp the shaft 5. A piezoelectric element 3b is disposed on the shaft 5 between the elements 3a and 3c, and the end faces opposed to the end faces of the elements 3a, 3c are bonded. When a voltage is applied, the element 3b is circumferentially displaced to rotate the element 3c in the circumferential direction. The shaft 5 can be rotatably driven while clamping by controlling the displacements of the elements 3a-3c. |
