PURPOSE:To prevent generation of out of synchronism by constituting incorporatedly the 1st photodetector for reading picture and the 2nd photodetector for reading optical information at the outside of a picture area and controlling the operation of the 1st photodetector with a detected output of the 2nd photodetector so as to detect a reading position of the reading position. CONSTITUTION:An array form LED23 for reading a picture of an original is arranged on a detecting face of a reading head 1 of a picture input device. Further, an LED30 for detecting scanning position is formed incorporatedly to the head 1, and the image of the reflected light from the LED30 is formed on an image forming array 31. The operation of the LED23 is controlled based on the detecting signal detected by the LED30. Further, the reading position of the LED23 is detected by the LED30, the reading position is detected with the high accuracy and the picture is read in a sure timing hardly causing out of synchronism. |
