PURPOSE:To constantly hold the brightness on a phosphor screen even when magnifying power is changed by providing a mu channel plate at a photoelectric side in close proximity to the phosphor screen and supplying drive voltage that obtains a specific electronic multiplication rate using a drive power supply generation circuit. CONSTITUTION:A metallic thin film is formed on the input and output surfaces 201 and 202 and of a mu channel plate 20. An electric field generation means 16 contained in a power supply unit that supplies operating voltage to the internal electrode of a picture magnifying tube applies the following potential to each electrode and such and accelerates an electron generated by a photoelectric surface 7 to the input surface direction of the plate 20. For example, -7KV is applied to the photoelectric surface 7 and 0V is applied to the plate input surface 201, a mesh-type electrode 9, and a cylindrical electrode 9. Several 100V voltage is applied between the input and output surfaces of the plate 20 from a plate drive power supply 21 by setting the output surface 202 side.
