Description: a)Automatic emptying when not in use The water outlet in the type of solar collector described in the main patent does not lie at the lowest point, thus water always remains in the collector or in the individual partial regions. A small additional outlet is provided at the lowest point of each partial region, through which water constantly flows out. This quantity of water is small in comparison with that in the main outlet and only slightly changes the functioning of the collector. After the water supply is turned off, the collector runs empty. b) Turning off of partial regions When a partial region of the collector is damaged, a given point in the collector is blocked off. The water is dammed up and flows via a bypass path into a partial region which lies lower down. The collector remains able to function, even with a defect in partial regions. The shut-off path integrated into the collector and the integrated bypass are cheaper and less liable to give trouble than individual components placed externally (e.g. hoses, taps). <IMAGE>
