Viscous coupling (1) for transfer gear box with a pressure valve (18) to provide protection from hydrostatic overloading, with a gas-free filling consisting of highly viscous silicone oil and transmission oil and with a suction valve (17). The pressure valve (18) is situated radially on the inside and only allows transmission oil to emerge due to the action of centrifugal force, while the suction valve (17) only takes in transmission oil because it is connected on the suction side to an oil collecting ring (33) or to a valve control. The gas-free filling prevents a temporary drop in the locking torque as the temperature rises, because the fall in viscosity is compensated immediately by a rise in the hydrostatic pressure. <IMAGE>
