The invention relates to an appliance for picking up or conveying agricultural stalks and leaves, for example a pick-up drum, in which tine carriers or conveying rakes rotating on a circular path are so controlled, by means of control rollers attached to the end of control arms and running along a control curve, that the tines or conveying rakes execute, during their respective rotational movements, an intrinsic movement in relation to the circular path which pivots them into the approximately radial working position and into an approximately tangential drawing-in position. In order, in appliances of this type, to ensure that dirt which occurs does not impede the functioning of the control roller and that the control parts, despite dimensions which are kept small, can withstand even higher stresses, there is provision for ensuring that the control roller is connected to an axle stub to form a rotationally fixed unit which is rotatably mounted in the control arm by means of rolling bearings.
