Apparatus for heating or cooling a liquid within a container comprises a pair of thermally conductive elements, 14, 16, each having first and second thermally conductive major surfaces, 17, 18, 19, 20, said elements being arranged in spaced apart relationship with their respective first major surfaces 17, 19 facing each other so as to define therebetween a space 25 for receiving a container.
