Monophase mains current converter 2 for stabilising a DC output voltage during a highly variable input voltage Ue by using a power transformer 1 provided with taps 1.1 to 1.4 characterised by four half-bridges 2.1 to 2.4 connected across the four taps of the transformer; the tap 1.1 for the zero common or reference potential is applied to the bridge 2.1 which is not controllable, the other three taps 1.2 to 1.4 are provided for a constant output voltage UeNom, UeNom + 30 % and UeNom - 30%.
