PURPOSE:To save waste of copying papers and to shorten copying time in making a large number of copies from a small-sized original by returning motion of an optical scanning system in accordance with the length in the scanning direction of the original. CONSTITUTION:In making plural copies of a small-sized original 36, a slider 33 is moved to he position of the right end of the original 36 set to the left end of a platen 11. When copying is started in this state, a carriage 14 for holding a lamp 12 moves from the left end of the original 36 toward its right end, and upon reaching the right end, a part 14' of it pushes a detection switch 35 to turn it on and send a signal of end of scanning. An optical scanning system is returned to the home position to turn on a detection switch 35 and an erasion lamp 25. Said system is again moved in the right direction, and the lamp 25 is turned off. As a result, waste of copying paper is saved and the copying time is shortened. |
