BLOCK COPOLYMER OF POLYETHYLENEIMINE COMPOUND, ITS PRODUCTION AND USE

PURPOSE:To provide the titled copolymer having hydrophilic segment and hydrophobic segment in the main chain of the copolymer and suitable as a surface active agent, by carrying out the ring-opening polymerization of a specific oxazoline compound in two steps. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer of formula III [A is group of formula IVor formula V; B is group of formula V when A is formula IV and B is group of formula IV when A is formula V; R1 is H or (ar)alkyl; m/n is 0.1-10; X is terminal group] and having a molecular weight of 500-50,000 is prepared by (1) carrying out the first-stage ring-opening cationic polymerization of the 2-oxazoline compound of formula I or formula II [R2 is H or 1-3C alkyl; R3 is 6-18C (ar)alkyl or aryl] completely, and (2) carrying out the second-stage cationic polymerization of the compound of formula II (when the compound of the first-stage polymerization is formula I ) or of formula I (when the first-stage polymerization compound is formula II).
