PURPOSE:To join securely different metallic plates while forming a clearance between both metallic plates by interposing an insert piece by solid-phase joining of respective metals between the different metallic plates which permit fusion joining. CONSTITUTION:An Al chip 4 and a Ti chip 5 are pressure-welded at smooth joint surfaces 6 and the one Ti chip 5 is rotated at a high speed and is joined in a solid phase to the joint surfaces by a friction welding method in the stage of producing a chemical reaction vessel 1 by welding an outside Al plate 2 which is lightweight and has considerable strength and an inside Ti plate 3 having excellent corrosion resistance. The joined chip is cut and is used as an insert chip 9. The Al side face 8 of such chip is pressed to the outside Al plate 10 and is joined by friction welding, resistance welding or fillet welding. The inside Ti plate 13 is then pressed to the Ti side face of the chip 9 and the Ti materials are welded to each other by resistance welding using an electrode 11 or friction welding, TIG welding, etc. The plate 2 and the plate 3 are thus securely joined by using the many insert chips 9 and forming a clearance between the plates in the above-mentioned way.
