PURPOSE:To improve color developing characteristics by incorporating a coupler having a specified group in the coupling position. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material contains a coupler having a group expressed by the formula in the coupling position, enabling sufficient color development even if an org. solvent for accelerating color development such as benzyl alcohol is removed from a color development liquid. In the formula, Z is O or S atom; X1 is a group of atoms for forming a phenyl or naphthl nucleus; R1 is halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkyl supphinyl, aryl sulphinyl, alkoxy, acylaminoalkyl, N-acyl carboimidoyl, 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic, or aryloxy group; R2 is a group having at least one carbonyl, sulphonyl, sulphinyl, or phosphonyl group.
