PURPOSE:To successively measure intermixing conditions of particles without exerting any influence on the intermixture of particles by employing main particles and tracer particles which respectively have a different rate of light beam reflection and measur ing the intensity of the reflected light from a particle layer. CONSTITUTION:Main particles M and tracer particles T, which respectively have a different rate of light beam reflection, constitute a partcle layer A and make a motion constantly. On the other hand, the laser beam generated in a laser source 1 is transmitted by means of a light-combined optical fiber 2 for transmitting light, with which laser light the inside of the particle layer A is irradiated. The laser light is reflected by the main particles M or tracer particles T and enters an optical fiber 3 for receiving light. The voltage, which comes from a photoelectric converter 4, corresponding to the intensity of the reflected light, is recorded by means of a recorder 6 through an amplifier 5. With this process, a light L reflected by the main particles M having a low rate of light beam reflection is not obtained immediately after the tracer particles T have been introduced. According as two kinds of particles are gradually intermixed, however, the intensively reflected light given by the tracer particles T enters. The period of high voltage is recorded at substantially equal intervals in an evenly intermixed state of particles.
