The invention relates to a process and apparatuses for the drying of ceramic mouldings or the like in a closed drying space by means of conditioned air. To produce a more effective ventilation of the goods to be dried (5) and mounted in a drying frame (4), the invention provides that in the drying space (1), or in each individual drying zone (3), a plurality of air delivery devices (15) and air intake devices (16) are arranged on opposite sides of the drying frame (4) and at different heights. The air delivery and air intake devices (15,16) produce a stream of drying air (19) which is guided circularly, is directed, in the region of the drying frame (4), obliquely onto the goods to be dried (5) at an angle to the vertical and circulates around the goods to be dried on all sides. The invention provides that the oblique flow of drying air can be directed through the drying frame (4) transversely, longitudinally or diagonally and also at different angles to the vertical, and the flow direction can also be changed periodically or continuously. This is achieved by systematically switching individual ventilating devices (15,16) on and off or else by the reversal of the delivery direction of these ventilating devices (15,16). Furthermore, the ventilating devices (15,16) can be vertically displaced independently of each other by means of drives (18). As a variant of this, the invention also provides rotating fan wheels.
