A cost effective tool for deep drawing of metal forms from sheet has the two parts of the press tool made from a cost effective material and with the areas of high stress provided with a resistant coating. The material of the inserts not only covers the high stress areas but also provides a dry lubrication effect to ensure the metal flows into the required shapes. The inserts can be replaced when worn.
