PURPOSE:To perform a stable paper feeding while achieving a manual operation easily by having a platen rotating with a latchet mechanism while the latchet mechanism is engaged with the platen only at the paper feeding. CONSTITUTION:When feeding a paper manually, the recording paper is advanced or retracted at as desired at a pitch set with a moderating gear 14 by turning a manual control knob fastened on the rotating shaft 3 of a platen 2 clockwise or counterclockwise. Upon the driving of a plunger 13 with the end of printing one line, an arm member 22 is turned counterclockwise on a support shaft 18 of a rotary lever 17 to engage a feed pawl 23 thereof 22 with a latchet gear 16 against charging of a spring 24 and the feed pawl 23 thereof 22 is engaged with the latchet gear 16. Thus, the arm member 22 gets together with the rotary lever 17 and is turned counterclockwise against the charging of a spring 20 on the rotating shaft 3 of the platen 2 whereby the latchet gear 16 is rotated to feed the recording paper by a specified value with the rotation of the platen 2 by a specified angle.
