In known in-house emergency call systems, a connection to the emergency switchboard is automatically dialled via a switched telephone system after a sensor of the emergency call subscriber set has been operated. The data and voice transmission takes place via this connection. The disadvantageous factor is that an emergency call will not reach the emergency switchboard in busy cases in the switched telephone system. The system according to the invention avoids this disadvantage in that the data are transmitted via a data transmission channel independent of the switched telephone system. Thus, the operating personnel of the emergency switchboard can also initiate measures to assist when the telephone connection has not been completed since an identification of the emergency call subscriber set is transmitted together with the data transmission.
